SOLVAR was imported from Norway in 2001, as a three year old.  We saw him for the first time at the Stallion evaluations.  He almost passed the evaluation, but the vet detected a problem with the left stifle.  Therefore, he was gelded before we could bring him here to the United States.  Solvar has since out-grown his stifle problem and has very good movement.

 

SOLVAR is 14.1 hands high and about 1150 pounds.  He is more of the medium-draft type Fjord Horse.

 

SOLVAR has always placed first in his halter classes and been the champion gelding at the Fjord shows we have attended in 2001 through 2003.  At the 2003 Finger Lakes Fjord show, Solvar was the Grand Champion Halter horse.  He has also done very well in dressage and driving classes.  Solvar also competes at Arena Driving Trials, Pleasure Driving Shows, Draft Horse Shows, and Dressage Shows.  Solvar and Solveig were driven in the 2001 and 2002 Manassas Christmas Parades, the 2004 Manassas St Patrick's Day Parade, the 2004 Mathias Parade, and the 2004 New Market Parade.  Solvar was in the 2004 Manassas Christmas Parade as a single.  We have used Solvar driving has a single, pair, unicorn, and 4-in-hand.  Solvar was a star as Lancelot's horse in Camelot at the local high school.

 

In June 2005, Solvar and Ulend were driven by Marsha in their first Combined Driving Event (CDE).  They place first in the Training Level Pony Pairs Division for the Elk Creek CDE at Fair Hill, MD.

 

In 2007, Solvar will continue working and showing with Ulend in a few CDEs.
