SOLVEIG gave birth to a brown dun filly, DC Vanja, on March 21, 2008.  The sire is Bayshore Simen and is his first foal.  This is Solveig's fourth foal and her fourth filly.  The filly is well and has very long legs.  So, she will probably be similar to Lyla.

SOLVEIG was purchased by us from Julie Will in Aug 1999, when she was 3 years old.  She was our first Fjord mare.

SOLVEIG is an excellent example of the draft type Fjord Horse mare.  At a Fjord Horse evaluation, Solveig achieved a blue ribbon in her conformation test, a red ribbon in introductory riding test, and blue ribbons in introductory driving and draft tests.  This qualifies Solveig for a first level Silver medallion.  The highest level for the introductory tests.

SOLVEIG is 14.2 hands high and about 1250 pounds.  Solveig's sire, Sinklar, and dam, Veni,  were imported from Norway.  We also had Solveig's full sister, VP Eva, for a short time.  All of the Fjords in this line have excellent dispositions and love attention.

SOLVEIG is an excellent producer with four fillies so far: DC Annelie by Flotren in 2003, DC Lyla by Prydarson in 2005, DC Sunhilde by Prydarson in 2006, and DC VANJA by Bayshore Simen in 2008.

SOLVEIG is very good at driving, riding, and draft.  She is very steady and safe driving and has helped trained most of our other Fjords to drive in a pair.  Solveig is so strong in her hindquarters that she has, on occasion, out-pulled Caribo.   Solveig and Solvar were driven in the 2001, 2002, and 2007 Manassas Christmas Parades, the 2004 Manassas St Patrick's Day Parade, the 2004 Mathias Parade, and the 2004 New Market Parade.  Solveig has also shown and placed at dressage shows, driving shows (pleasure shows and Arena Driving Trials) and draft shows.  In October 2007, Solveig driven by Betsy Smith participated in the National Drive at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY.
