MARSHA'S LOG HOME
In the fall of 2005, we contracted with the Pat Wolfe Log Building School to build a log home for us. The Pat Wolfe Log Building Course is designed to expand knowledge - both of log building techniques and tools, their correct use and maintenance. It is a hands on course. Practicality is stressed from the outset. All students become familiar with the basic notches of the European chinkless style of log building. The Spring 2006 class building our home started on April 10, and finished the home on Jun 15. On Jun 16, the logs were loaded on two flat bed trailers and they arrived at our farm on Jun 19. Some of the class members came down with Pat and they reassembled the home on Jun 20. On Jun 21, they cut out and prepared the openings for the windows and doors.
We are behind updating this page. We will add more recent photos soon.
As of Dec 2007, the inside logs have been cleaned, treated and stained. The interior walls are wall boarded, and painted. The electrical wiring, switches, and outlets are completed. Also, the plumbing is 90 percent complete. Our next project is the floors. We have almost all the material needed, we just need to lay the floors down.
Here are some photos taken of the front with Christmas decorations.
